    The Role:
    MERIT is one of the newest business units within the Advent Group, having successfully accomplished Annual Summits in Barcelona in 2017, Lisbon in 2018 and Vienna in 2019 (as well as regional events in Singapore and Amsterdam).  At client request, MERIT is evolving into a community that offers live and online events and exchange opportunities throughout the year.  These include conferences, networking dinners, webinars, Mastermind Sessions, Master Classes and Regional Summits… The Business Developer role will be to market to corporate clients with the intent to building up the MERIT clientele base, sell community memberships as well as one-off events.  MERIT is in a growth stage with a genuine “start up” culture within it.

    To be successful in this role, you should be able to develop long-term partnerships and nurture trusting relationships with potential clients. More specifically, your responsibilities will be:
    • Contact, prospect and solicit former and new corporate clients to purchase memberships for the MERIT Leadership Community as well as sell one-off events according to an annual calendar.
    • Present, reach out and promote the MERIT community to inform and build brand recognition (this will include significant travel – events and commercial actions)
    • Participate in developing and targeting new markets using traditional and online tools
    • Follow sales plan and maintain sales reports and updates
    • Attend key and strategic events to maintain relationships with clients but also to leverage these relationships to generate new relationships to bring in paying members
    • Communicate regularly with Development Director and team members
    • Assist in developing marketing:  written and video materials geared to a variety of corporate clients in various global/regional markets

    The Requirements:
    • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in B2B sales (service preferred to product), preferably in more than one company
    • Exceptional written and spoken English
    • Strong motivation to work within the education/training sector
    • Mature, professional presentation (able to comfortably engage with Executive-level clientele)
    • At least a Bachelor’s degree in humanities or business-related major
    • Developed “general culture” including; travel experiences, languages, variety of interests…
    • Self-motivated and dynamic personality and with a positive team-oriented attitude
